Grant does and says so much for his age. The only catch is, he only talks and does tricks when he feels like it! It's our fault for naming him Maverick. Discipline is an issue around our house because of this attitude and the fact that he is so tough that spankings of all different kinds usually don't phase him much. (Anyone have a copy of "The Strong Willed Child" we can borrow?) We don't want to hurt him so we have turned to alternatives such as making him sit with us for a couple minutes and taking toys away as forms of punishment. His toughness does come in handy, though, like times such as last night when he aquired that huge scrape on his forehead. He cried maybe 30 seconds and was done. Even when I cleaned and dressed it he was more worried about playing with my earrings on the counter than the pain. He's our little John Wayne. Maybe his nickname should be Duke.

Your video is cute. We watched it with Canaan. He just looked at Grant on the screen as I reminded him who that was. This will be a good way to remind Canaan of his friend Grant. So, discipline became an issue about 2 weeks before Canaan turned one. He calmed down a bit for several months (about 2 1/2) and then it started back up. Now I can relate more to people who say that it is hard because they are having to discipline and spank multiple times a day. It is a constant battle with some things (like come), but with others we are slowly winning (eat your bites). Of course, with each one that gets better, we have new ones come up. But, I suppose that is life as a parent! Keep up the hard work! We love you.
